The Cancer Risk Assessment clinics and High Risk OBSP Genetic Assessment Program are part of the Regional Cancer Programs at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. Health professional services within this program includes genetic counselling, risk assessment and risk management, high risk breast screening and nurse navigation.
Reporting directly to the Regional Cancer Program Diagnostic Assessment Manager, the Genetic Counsellor participates in the work of the Cancer Risk Assessment Clinics. The duties of this position include reviewing patient records to obtain relevant data, and analyzing and reporting on data selected. Obtaining patient histories to determine risk of hereditary cancer syndromes and performing genetic counselling and education for individuals and families is required. Assessing individuals and families for testing usefulness and/or research eligibility. Liaising with the laboratory for collection and transportation of blood samples and tumor tissue. Liaising with the Genetics Committee and others for advice and direction. Participating in the development of questionnaires and research protocols for assessing individuals and familial risk of cancer and maintaining strict confidentiality of all information. Performing other related duties as assigned.

This position is temporary until March 2021.
1. Master’s Degree from an (ABGC) accredited Genetic Counselling Program.
2. American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and/or Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) certified and/or eligible for certification.
3. Previous experience in a cancer genetics clinic preferred.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of the issues surrounding screening for genetic susceptibility to disease.
5. Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
6. Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers.
