Key Worker – Fetal Alcohol Spectrum and Related Disorder Program

Date of Posting: January 10, 2019

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, some evenings and Saturdays.

Term: 24 months

Location: Surrey and/or Langley sites

Reports to: Director of Psychology and Family Services

Union: Health Sciences Association of BC

Classification: Grid 11, in accordance with the provincial collective agreement between the
Health Sciences Professional Bargaining Association and the Health Employers
Association of B.C.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Education (Special
Education) or Nursing from a post-secondary institution of recognized standing or
equivalent education and experience

Five years recent pediatric clinical experience including experience in working with
children with fetal alcohol syndrome and related complex behavioral disorders

Minimum 5 years experience facilitating a process of individual planning for children
and youth aged 0 -19 years with complex developmental and/or behavioral needs,
preferably including FASD, and their families and supporting families to access and
coordinate an array of support services

Experience with and understanding of a range of assessment tools applicable to
children and youth and demonstrated ability to interpret assessment results

Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, or a second language an asset

Available vehicle and a valid BC Drivers License

Duties: Working in the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Program in an accredited pediatric family
centered medical rehabilitation facility, the successful candidate will:

Work with children and youth who have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and
Complex Developmental Behavioral Conditions and their families /
caregivers

Function as a family centered case worker
Function as a community services change agent
Serve as an internal (to the Centre) case coordinator to clients as assigned

including performing intake functions
Work in accordance with the policies and procedures of The Centre
