Job Description & Summary
A career within Actuarial Services, will provide you with the opportunity to contribute general insurance advice and consulting services to clients such as insurers, banks, regulators, and third party administrators. You’ll provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, underwriting, new legislation, and the efficiency of claims or reporting processes. Simply put, you might help analyse the impact that new regulation will have on an insurance company’s balance sheet or you could be revising businesses’ projections and making sure they have adequate reserves.

As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.
Assist in audit engagements with reserve valuation and pricing
Develop pricing models
Work on MCT, DCAT, ORSA reports and IFRS 17
Develop expertise in reserving
Support the team to deliver consulting projects within the P&C space
Work directly with other actuaries on a variety of projects, including cross-functional projects on different audit and consulting projects
Use feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areas
Develop new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems
Use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in business area.
Review your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance
Use straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing others.
Able to read situations and modify behavior to build quality, diverse relationships
Uphold the firm’s code of ethics and business conduct
An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work
Over 1 year or more of actuarial experience (preferably in the P&C space)
Prior work experience (i.e. co-ops or internships) with a consulting firm, ideally within P&C is a plus
Graduate or higher education in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics or related quantitative discipline
Completed exam 1, 2 and 3F of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)
Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Knowledge of SAS, VBA, R or Python
Strong problem solving skills to develop new ideas and propose innovative solutions
Bilingual in French & English is an asset
