Location: Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Center, Kamloops, BC.
This position is responsible assisting in the cleaning of areas as required as well as checks the completion of work assignments and directs staff as needed to ensure that all work is complete and all company standards are met and maintained.
Reports To: Environmental Manager or Manager of Support Services designate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Attends monthly meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
Assists with regular cleaning for vacation/sickness coverage. Cleans all assigned areas with the use of the assigned housekeeping cart and approved cleaning procedures. This includes the cleaning and sanitizing of furniture, tile, fixtures, walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, vents, telephones, equipment, and windows. It also includes dust mopping and wet mopping hard surface floors and vacuuming carpeted floors and furniture.
Requests cleaning supplies, prepares cleaning solutions according to procedures. Requests cleaning equipment as needed and maintains cart and equipment in a clean and organized fashion.
Assists with special projects and other duties assigned.
Ensures adequate staffing for each shift and arranges schedule to cover any staff shortages as needed.
Checks on work of aides and recommends corrective actions to manager.
Maintains records and submits reports concerning equipment logs, supplies usage, sign in sheets, etc.
Provides training to new and current associates as directed by Manager and/or designate.
Other duties as directed by Manager and/or designate.
Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
One (1) to two (2) years experience in a supervisory position or equivalent preferred.
Sound and demonstrated knowledge of infection control procedures required.
Criminal record check, TB screening and pre-employment medical check required.
Job Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in the English language.
Ability to deal with other effectively, work with a team, work with frequent interruptions and follow through completely with all tasks and responsibilities.
Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
Ability to perform a significant amount of lifting, walking, bending, stooping and stretching to carry out job duties, cleaning tasks and operate equipment on a daily basis.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete work with frequent interruptions.
