The MSU represents full-time undergraduate students at McMaster University. The MSU purpose is to draw into a true society all students at McMaster University. General Scope of Duties

The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for leading Union Market and Grind operations. Under the direction of the MSU Food & Beverage Manager, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager leads a team of employees to ensure a timely delivery of service and enjoyable customer experience. The role will train and manage front line staff, lead service delivery, reconcile inventory and tender as directed by Food & Beverage Manager.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills required to direct, be critical, and lead staff members
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles required to perform financial duties
  • Interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with staff and customers
  • Strong communications skills, written and verbal

  • Knowledge of restaurant industry
  • Knowledge of cafĂ© industry
  • Knowledge of convenience store industry
  • Problem solving skills

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe, enjoyable environment for customers and staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate regulatory requirement is followed
  • Effort required exercising judgment in staff discipline situations
  • Responsible for supervision of all part time staff on shift

Working Conditions

  • Loud volume, noisy, environment

Training and Experience

  • Food Handler’s certification is required
  • Past Barista and/or Restaurant experience required
  • Convenience Store experience preferred
  • Experience in campus environment preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $20.38 /hour
