Your opportunity:
The Office of the Vice-President & Principal supports the priorities and objectives established by the Principal in accordance with the UTSC Strategic Plan and the President’s Three Priorities. The office also oversees the planning of major university and campus-wide events, initiatives and special projects such as official groundbreaking and building opening ceremonies, convocation and U of T Scarborough awards and recognition. We are the primary contact for all aspects of campus protocol including, visiting delegations and dignitaries.

We are currently recruiting for a Business Officer to join the Office of the Vice-President & Principal. Working under general supervision of the Director, the Business Officer is responsible for overseeing several operating budgets and performing a range of financial and administrative functions for the department.

Your responsibilities will include:
Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
Analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision making
Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
Implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities
Producing complex statistical and/or financial reports
Liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate purchasing and/or procurement processes
Identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Completion or working towards a professional accounting designation.
Minimum four years of related financial and administrative experience.
Experience with budget preparation, forecasting and analysis.
Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Sound working knowledge of financial and human resources software systems such as SAP (HRIS, FIS) or comparable applications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrative initiative and time management skills.
Highly analytical and detail oriented.
Must possess tact, diplomacy and a positive and professional attitude.
Sound knowledge of GAAP.
Must be able to work independently.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to service excellence.
