The ESG Analyst is a member of the Sustainable/ESG Investing Team, within Private Markets, working under the direction of the ESG Director. This position supports all aspects of the Private Markets’ sustainable investing activities, including ESG integration, portfolio evaluations, internal and external engagements, and ESG research.
Works closely with the ESG Director and other sustainability professionals to support the integration of environmental, social and corporate governance factors (ESG) into our investment decision-making, risk management and ownership practices.
Within Manulife, engage with a wide range of teams and work collaboratively with the Private Markets investment teams, Manulife Investment Management’s ESG team and the sustainability heads for Real Estate, Farmland and Timberland.
Supports reporting to industry benchmarks, annual reports, articles, website, speaking engagements, and communication with stakeholders on all Private Markets asset classes including Private Equity & Private Credit, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Farmland and Timberland.
Reviews sustainable investing industry information, ESG risks and related financial and industry trends, issues and regulatory developments and prepares briefing materials for senior management.
Maintains up to date knowledge of best practices in sustainable investing.
University degree in a related field of study.
A postgraduate degree and/or designation would be an asset.
Advanced knowledge of corporate governance, social, and environmental issues.
3-5 years’ experience in asset management, private markets and/or sustainability.
Strong research skills and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Strong writing and communication skills.
Strong service orientation with a demonstrated ability to forge strong relationships with internal and external partners.
