Nordmänner Marine Services is a fully mobile boat repair company. We are in the business of structural and cosmetic repair, refit, and maintenance of marine vessels. We define fully mobile as: transportation of all tools, materials and labour to the boat’s location.

A marine service technician can conduct structural and cosmetic repairs on marine vessels up to 150 ft. This includes modification, refits, repair, upgrade and maintenance. We work with composites, wood, and metal.

We are looking for people who have:
At least 17 years old

WHIMS

Forklift operator

Scissor lift operator

CPR / First Aid

Understanding of work-site safety

Drivers license with a clean record

Bonded with clean record for a minimum of the last 6 years.

Clean and drug free

Strong ability to follow detailed instructions in order and to the letter.

Experience with and able to learn and work with composite materials (You will be trained to our company, and Canadian and American aerospace and aircraft industry standards - there is no higher standard)

Have some technical marine experience and can troubleshoot and address issues on location.

You like to work outside

Understand the importance of customer service.

Can work in teams and independently.

You enjoy working with your hands, are physically fit and able to work long hours

Are prepared to go above and beyond what is expected of them.

Description of the work:
Setting up and taking down of job sites

Sand, scrape, clean and prepare all wood, fiberglass and metal parts on all assigned marine vessels.

Removal and installation of parts.

Removal of paints and application of paints.

Cleaning, polishing, and refinishing marine vessels.

Repairing of marine fiberglass (composites).

Application of epoxy, two part paints, and varnishes.

Removal and installation marine fenestration.

Repairing of bottom strikes, keels and rudders and decks.

Assist the master shipwright in all shipwright and shipwright related tasks.

Keep work area clean and clean work area.

Experience with resins, epoxies and gelcoats.

Experience with Gelcoat repairs.

Experience with finish painting, varnishing and spraying.

Experience with hull, rudder, keel and deck structural repairs and modifications.

Experience with osmosis and blistering repairs.

Experience with hardware installation and removal.

Experience with designing, cutting and installing windows.

Experience with wood structure repairs, carpentry, cabinetry and finishing.

Experience with barrier and antifoul coatings.

Knowledge and experience of hand tools, air and electric tools.

Knowledge and experience of shop machinery.

Basic Marine trades mathematics.

3M half-mask , Steel toed shoes, Safety glasses.

Nordmanner Marine Services work shirts will be supplied.

Workwear for all weather conditions.

Special working conditions:
We work outside in the elements. You must be prepared to work in the hot, cold, rain and wind.

We can, sometimes, work long hours in order to complete projects.

This is a dirty job.

We will supply mask filters, work suits, and hot beverages and sport drinks as needed.
