The Biscuit (Cookie) category is a Weston Foods heritage business. We have been producing cookies for nearly 100 years. We manufacture some of the best known private brands in North America as well as producing a share of the US Girl Scout Cookies. The Sr. Category Manager will have a key role in leading the Cookie portfolio for our key retail partners in the US and Canada. The anchor accounts of focus are Loblaw and Walmart, two of our largest strategic partnerships. This person will be responsible for aiding in the management of the overall category strategy, development of long-term strategic plans and annual plans, with a focus on driving category growth and profitability. The Biscuit/Cookie category is our second largest category and this role will have a focus on protecting and growing our sales with high profile customers. We are committed to growing our top line and bottom line while targeting future investment for the next decade’s worth of growth.
We are seeking the right candidate with strong experience in Tier 1 category analysis, deep financial acumen, great presence, and excellent project and general management skills. The role presents an ownership opportunity in a leading bakery organization to foster and grow with trusted private label brands and key customer relationships.
Develop and partner on strategies with sales and sales strategy that protect and grow our key private label brands. Accountable to help drive design to value work and profit improvement tactics within the retail customer base. Understand category trends, competitor behavior, and identify opportunities for growth by line extension, new products, improved in-store conditions and promotion strategies, as well as price pack architecture.
Accountable for leading project management on execution of category strategies, including identifying new category initiatives, innovation, portfolio assortment and planning, and interfacing with cross functional teams to deliver on category plans.
Develop strong collaborative working relationships across internal cross-functional stakeholders to influence the strategic direction of the Category and address issues.
Responsible for co-leading the category commercialization process.
Provide organizational leadership and bring enterprise wide thinking and responsibility.
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 7-10 years Category/Marketing Management experience in CPG
Demonstrated leadership, drive for results and superior execution
Strong analytical, presentation and project management skills
Strong Financial acumen – Profitability (P&Ls)
Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with other departments as well as work independently
Resiliency to deal with ambiguity and lead through change
Customer facing experience required
Stage Gate experience preferred
Private Label Experience preferred
Ability to travel to the US, less than 20%
