Reports to: Director, Engineering Services

Based at: Vancouver Office

Position Purpose: Responsible for the development and growth of the practice side of the engineering teams & to develop business for the company.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
Provide leadership, direction, and support for electrical engineering managers and team leads in the company.
Mentor, motivate and provide guidance to junior engineering employees.
Work with Human Resources to prepare formalized training program for entry level engineers.
Develop and lead quality program for engineers.
Promote company Core Values and an excellent engineering/workplace culture.
Enhance the technical depth of the engineering team in the company.
Enable and develop efficient and quality engineering process and practice.
Using established industry network, assist with recruitment and attraction of new talents.
Lead opportunities for significant projects utilizing company resources. Explore alliances or joint ventures with other organizations where appropriate.
Provide expertise in project management including scope definition, scheduling and financial management and educate the team with basic project management skills.
Provide marketing and project responses for engineering offerings.
Develop significant new business/topline growth for the company.
Using established relationships with regional/national clients in various sectors, successfully secure new opportunities and contribute to the topline growth for the company.
Work collaboratively with other engineering service lines to grow WEC’s business in the province.
Work with Engineering Managers and Directors to support the development of lasting relationships with clients.
Work with Engineering Director in developing annual strategic goals and get involved in business planning sessions.
Track and maintain strategic goals for each year.
Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Adhere to the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.
Submit technical papers and provide presentations at technical conferences.

P.Eng., AScT or C.E.T. designation
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or diploma in Engineering Technology
25+ years’ experience in Consulting Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership, supervisory or mentorship role
Education in leadership and business

Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
Strong presentation, proposal writing, business development and project management skills.
The ability to recognize and accurately define problems and solutions by collecting data and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
A results oriented and decisive individual with the ability to delegate effectively.
A people oriented leader with a reputation for successfully attracting, mentoring and motivating a team.
Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple priorities, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
Strong contacts in the engineering community and a persuasive presentation and communication style.
Experience and good judgement to plan and accomplish ambitious but achievable goals.
Ability to represent the company to the staff, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly.
Understands our pricing model and billing procedures.
Ability to facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
Possesses strong understanding in the area of at least one engineering discipline.
Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including Vision, Career Path, Office 365, discipline specific drafting/design software, etc.)
