Mandate:
The Technical Project Manager will play a key role in Amica’s Technical organization. This individual will be responsible for the implementation of technical projects and provide project management direction for prioritized cross-functional initiatives.

The Technical Project Manager will be accountable to the Director, Project Management for managing the initiation, planning, execution and delivery of assigned IT and ad-hoc small to medium scale projects. The Technical Project Manager will provide business case support, assist with business requirements and deliver and adhere to strong project management methodologies, in order to deliver projects on time, within budget and to required quality.

The Technical Project Manager supports the development of the IT strategy and coordinates this effort across IT. Additional responsibilities include:

Collaborating with IT management and IT colleagues to translate corporate/functional business and information objectives into an IT strategic/tactical business plan
Consulting within the IT organization to develop appropriate support for IT-centric projects from various technology and service departments

This role is based in Toronto and may require some travel.

Responsibilities:
Project Management

Produce the project initiation documentation
Planning the project and monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
Diplomatically enforce use of project management process, and administer updates and continual growth on standards
Manage risks to the successful delivery of the project
Manage the Project change control process
Manage third party contributions to the project as appropriate
Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring the project team is actively working toward established milestones
Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
Research and evaluate hardware and software technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis when making large purchases on behalf of the company
Effectively communicate and document business and IT information in line with agreed processes and procedures.
Balance technical and business issues as well as communicate appropriately with both technical and business experts
Develop, define, and build project documentation that will enable business change

Training and development

Establish and implement training processes and strategies for all technical personnel
Identify and implement plans for training and development needs
Implement best practices and empowering tools for project management to assist in future development of the PMO, make continual improvements to reduce timelines and maximize communications between cross functional teams under tight deadlines
Implement standards for documentation, communication and overall Project management policy.

Communication

Optimize communication and ensure effective knowledge transfer and hand-offs between related liaison departments – Ensure thorough understanding of technical project management and needs of the Business through optimization of technically based project requests

Qualifications:
Minimum three years management experience in the IT field, including development work and interactions with customers
Good knowledge and understanding of relevant IT applications
Proven experience with project management processes; including project planning, issue and risk management, resource tracking and project success metrics
Managerial experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience working in a collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
Experience in project team management
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
Good presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written (for specifications and documentation)
Proficiency in presentation development
Experience with Yardi, Okta, CTI technologies considered an asset

Ability to handle and be comfortable with ambiguity
Able to work accurately with good attention to detail

Education

Bachelors’ Degree in any IT-related discipline
Project Management Certification from an accredited intuition
PMP certification considered an asset
