O’Brien Lifting Solutions Inc. is a manufacturer of overhead cranes, jib cranes, workstation cranes, gantry cranes and a supplier of commercial doors and loading dock equipment, serving the industry for over 50 years, with a sales, service and manufacturing facility in Burlington, Ontario.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Door Service Lead Hand Technicians will start their day by reporting to the head office to receive their job tasks from the department manager. The Door Service Lead Hand will use their experience and technical expertise to inspect equipment and detect faults and malfunctions. They will first determine the extent of repair required, adjust and commission equipment or replace the defective parts. Following that, the Lead Hand Technician will test the repaired equipment for proper performance and is responsible for cleaning, lubricating and other maintenance work as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel by company vehicle to job sites on a daily basis and utilize expertise to determine the extent of repairs required
  • Inspect and complete repairs of door or dock equipment as per work order
  • Give Helper Technician duties and responsibilities while on job site
  • Able to work after regular business hours in order to respond to service calls
  • Remain current in door and dock industry products and services
  • Accurately complete daily timesheets and inspection reports, handing them in daily
  • Ensure O’Brien’s and customers safety policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Resolve emergency breakdown situations in a prompt and professional manner
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Desire to further develop mechanical skills and learn new techniques in order to work in a more efficient manner
  • Communicate with Manager if problem occurs with the scope of work changes
  • Maintain and upkeep inventory on company truck and have knowledge and understanding parts
  • Must be able to work in fast pace environments without sacrificing quality and safety.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Maintain contact with office after completion of every job
  • Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with overhead door and dock equipment
  • Must possess a valid drivers license, with a clean driving record
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to safely lift 100lbs
  • Must be able to work at heights above 3 meters
  • Must be able to work after regular business hours in order to respond to emergency calls and be available on call in a rotation
  • A valid CWB welding certificate is a strong asset
