Job Description

In this role the successful candidate primarily be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing maintenance activities for production lines, machinery and facilities. They are committed to our ideas and methods with value added products and services that respond to customer needs and will work closely with production management to ensure the successful productivity of the plant. This is a hands on position, leading by example, and teaching through learned experience and communication.

Summary of requirements:

  • Experience in operating and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Experience in a management and or supervisory role
  • A sense of urgency and a commitment to process equipment uptime
  • Strong communicator, effective use of communication aids and tools
  • Experience teaching new technicians and identifying their strength and weaknesses
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, and effectively read equipment schematics
  • Establish and maintain a good rapport (relationship) with vendors and suppliers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date reports and call records (service)
  • Fully abide and actively support Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of utilities and natural resources, and the Health & Safety of all employees
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, passport and vehicle
  • Expertise in using power and hand tools
  • Must be able to travel throughout Canada and the USA
  • Ability to focus, prioritize, multi-task, and follow instructions
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Must be accurate and detailed/deadline oriented and require minimum supervision
  • Observe all applicable regulations and codes made under the Provincial and Federal statutes and Municipal by-laws
  • Maintain proper inventory of work related materials
  • Provide ongoing instruction to maintenance team and other employees with regards to quality standards and root cause analysis
  • Assist other trades and contractors as required
  • Provide leadership to other trades and contractors as required
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the organizations leadership

Technical/Educational requirements:

  • A relevant post-secondary diploma (technical trades: electrical, mechanical,engineering etc)/certificate, or equivalent is preferred
  • A diploma from a secondary school is required
  • Hands on mechanical experience is required
  • Proven leadership, supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to meet deadlines, sense of urgency and accountability
