At BC Ferries, our employees are our most important assets in delivering our commitment to customer safety, service and satisfaction.

We offer a unique West Coast working environment with diverse challenges and opportunities. Whether your goal is to work behind the scenes, onboard our ships, or within our land based operations, you are a key contributor to the BC Ferries team.

With 47 ports of call and around 500 sailings every day, BC Ferries is the largest independently-owned ferry company in the world. Dedicated to safety, excellence, innovation, and people, we are committed to continuously improving the west coast travel experience of our customers.

In a role critical to the safety and security of BC Ferries operations you are a key member of the Corporate Security team. Reporting to the Manager, Security, you are responsible for coordinating the installation, maintenance, upgrade and repair of physical security systems and equipment. You also identify physical security vulnerabilities and recommend preventable measures. This includes researching and recommending the acquisition of physical security systems; conducting security inspections of corporate facilities; recommending physical security policies and procedures and liaising with external security and law enforcement agencies.

You have a post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Criminal Justice or other related discipline, along with a minimum of ten years experience in corporate/industrial security environments with commensurate knowledge of physical security principles, locking hardware, alarm systems, electronic access control and CCTV systems. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. ASIS PSP or CPP designation would be an asset. You have strong analytical, planning and leadership skills. You are proficient with the MS Office Suite of programs, have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact positively and proactively with customers and staff at all levels. Familiarity with marine security, and specifically an understanding of the Transport Canada Domestic Ferry Security Regulations would be an asset.

This is not a security guard role however; Basic Security Training and a valid BC Security Licence are considered assets. The successful candidate will be subject to a Criminal Record Check.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must submit a cover letter and resume clearly identifying how they meet the qualifications necessary for this position. This information will be used as part of the selection process.

Please apply by January 3, 2020.

We appreciate the interest of all applicants; however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
