Job Description:
The Event Security and Travel Risk Specialist will report to the Manager of Enhanced Personnel Protection and work with internal and contract team members to contribute to a best-in-class event security and global travel risk management program that consists of systems, policies and procedures with the objective of increasing company security adherence, awareness, creating a safe working environment, and remaining compliant with applicable regulatory bodies.

Position will be operating out of our Montreal, QC, Metcalfe Street location. There will be a focus on key areas such as incident investigations, event security through analysis, travel risk management and information sharing with our Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC).

Working with a team of highly skilled professionals whose mandate is to develop, implement and supervise event security threat risk mitigation, emergency response and other process documentation, as well as plan and execute on operational physical security and incident investigation requirements. This may include contributing to effective security risk management programs, intelligence and investigative programs, security system solutions, providing special event and personnel protection services, as well as delivering advice, direction and education.

This position may interact with senior management at the Corporate and Business Group level.

What will you do?

Collaborate with the GSOC to coordinate and execute global travel risk management reports.
Oversee event security reporting and compiling threat risk intelligence on geopolitical concerns, security risks such as crime, terrorism, civil unrest and travel risk to ensure traveler safety.
Assist with board of director meetings by providing physical security presence and supervise security contractors.
Maintain the tracking and record keeping of our Event Security Travel Risk Program.
Create, update and maintain global major location evacuation plans and escalation matrixes
Analyze metrics, identify trends and create processes and strategies to address any risks or vulnerabilities associated with the trends.
Create and implement knowledge documents, focusing on content verification and accuracy.
Participate and contribute to industry related threat intelligence roundtables, groups or committee’s pertaining to executive protection, travel risk management and event security.

What you need to succeed:
Degree or diploma in security, investigation, or risk management; or comparable professional education/training in a field relevant to security or investigation management.
3 years of corporate security experience and financial Institution considered an asset
Professional designation preferred in security or investigations management: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI). Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Associate Protection Professional (APP)
Knowledge or experience in dealing with third party vendors that deal with, travel and medical risk, political, security and integrity risk is considered an asset
Fluent in both oral and written French and English

Preferred Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, strategic thinking and planning skills.
Understanding of organizational priorities and relationships.
Experience with physical security and intelligence solutions (e.g. incident workflow management, access control and video management, perimeter/interior intrusion detection, risk assessment software, etc.).
Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of ethics, diversity, equity and harassment in the workplace.
Strong collaboration skills, self-starter, strategic thinker, negotiator and consensus builder.

Additional notes:
20% Global and Regional Travel is required.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
