Job Description
Title: Line Cook
Department: Kitchen
Reports to: Chef de Cuisine
Hours: 40-45 hours per week
Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
Responsible for the daily preparation and execution of the assigned station menu items; items may include, but are not limited to: sauce & soup productions, vegetable cookery, and station organization. Minor help with general kitchen maintenance may be requested at different times during the course of the job. Maintains cleanliness of kitchen and upholds the standards set forth by the Chef de Cuisine.

Job Responsibilities:
Receive, store, and rotate all food/ dry ingredient stock.
Maintain organization of all food storage areas.
Maintain immediate prep area clean.
Follow procedures and existing recipes.
Complete production list daily.
Complete assigned side work duties.
Assist in other areas of the kitchen.
Maintain Food & Beverage hygiene standards.
Maintain quality standards set forth by the Chef de Cuisine.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Chef de Cuisine.

Job Requirements:
Ability to understand and carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate desired information.
Ability to read and write recipes and other instructions.
Ability to work with team members effectively.
Minimum 5 year experience in Indian cuisine is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of times.
Must be able to effectively multitask.

Working conditions:
Must be able to maintain a high level of sanitation/cleanliness.
Maybe required to work occasional weekends, holidays and special events as needed.
Maybe required to lift heavy objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $800.00 to $1,200.00 /week

Job Duties:

  • Prepare, season and cook food as directed, meeting dietary requirements where required
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Oversee kitchen operations
  • Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
