Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our Network Technicians work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.

Reporting to the Cadre Team Lead, the Network Technician will be responsible for supporting the product introduction and commissioning of Low Floor Light Rail Vehicles (LFLRVs) and BiLevel Passenger Cars being delivered to regional transit agencies operating in the GTA. Our technicians will be responsible for the onsite software updates and networking installation, testing and repairs on the vehicles ensuring they are delivered to the customer on time and fully functional.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for both installation and updating of embedded software installed in the LFLRVs and BiLevels
Document and report issues or changes in the work instructions to supervisor and engineering departments
Liase with the clients IT support center on any issues with the vehicles software and networking equipment
Assist the Electromechanical Technicians with repairs and installation of LFLRV and BiLevel parts such as switches, relays, wires, harnesses, panels, air valves, bearing, couplings, etc.
Complete functional testing on all completed modifications
Completed Post-Secondary education in the field of Network or Computer Engineering from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience
Skilled in troubleshooting techniques and a complete understanding of networking and software systems
Hands on experience working with embedded software systems
Capable of reading and understanding electrical drawings and maintenance manuals
Experience with electrical or mechanical maintenance or installation would be considered a strong asset
Strong communication skills and capable working with computers
