Located in Bolton (Caledon), Rafat has grown to become a leading construction firm in a diverse range of services including: demolition, excavation, concrete forming and buildings, road construction, site services, landscaping and much more. Our fleet of red and green trucks are a familiar site throughout the GTA.

Due to our Organization's growth, this is a brand new role primarily responsible for ensuring the health of the Truck and small vehicle Fleet (over 250 vehicles) by utilizing in-depth mechanical knowledge, compliance administration experience, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiencies in fleet maintenance. Responsibilities also include operational readiness for all Winter Snow Plows & Brine Trucks during the transition periods before and after winter. This position deals with all driver concerns regarding truck maintenance and managing the trucking administration such as CVOR, permits, and transfers. The Fleet Maintenance Manager partners with the Fleet Operations Manager and Truck Shop Foreman to ensure the smooth operation of the fleet team and equipment.

Fleet includes: Dump Trucks, Snow Plows, Hydrovac Trucks, Water Truck, Crane Trucks, Material Slinger, Sweepers, Roll-Off, Pickup Trucks, Cube vans, etc…

Brands include: Peterbilt, Mack, International, Mack, Kenworth, GMC, Dodge, Ford, Chev, etc…

Job Responsibilities

  • Vehicle inspections
  • Schedule vehicles for repairs with the Shop Foreman (who reports to you)
  • Warranty tracking and liaising with Dealers on all warranty issues
  • Ensure accident reports are properly completed (from Maintenance point of view)
  • Work alongside the Manager, Fleet Operations in vehicle scheduling and readiness (Fleet Operations deals with roadside field servicing including winter maintenance - a different department)
  • Review insurance claims to ensure that costs are accurate based on accident
  • Manage all truck emergency situations and deal with external sources to minimize damage and coordinate clean up as required
  • Operate trucks as required to assist with road tests
  • Conduct research for specialty items for truck repairs
  • Authorize purchases for fleet maintenance (tools, parts, etc.)
  • Schedule vendor meetings to review new products and manage price effectiveness
  • Manage all newly purchased vehicles and complete all paperwork to get vehicle operational
  • Manage and oversee the personal collection fleet of the CEO
  • Provide leadership and support to direct reports
  • Perform general labour duties as required
  • Perform all job duties in a healthy and safe manner and in accordance with health and safety standards set out by the Company and Ministry of Labour
  • All responsibilities carry through to the snow and ice management services
  • Providing back up for other members of the Fleet Management/Supervisory team
  • Overseeing sticker renewal and Ministry of Labour

Required Skills

  • excellent computer skills including MS Office/Excel
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Previous experience as a 310T truck and Coach Technician (mechanic) is an asset
  • Previous experience with truck administration is required – CVOR, Vehicle registrations, inspections
  • DZ or AZ licence is an asset
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to be on call to handle any vehicle related concerns
  • Previous experience as a Fleet Manager required – minimum of 2 years
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to trouble shoot and resolve issues
