We have a unique opportunity for someone to contribute their talents and strengths as a Senior Business Governance Specialist in our Toronto office.

A ROLE YOU WILL LOVE

Reporting to the General Manager, Client Relationship, Plan Managers, this position is responsible for understanding and supporting all CPU Plan Managers products and services. Responsible for building credibility and rapport with key decision makers within prospective client organizations. The Specialist will have knowledge in rules and regulations within the equity industry. In addition, the Specialist will act as SME for New Business/Deals reviews ensuring serviceability and profitability for new business. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in a team-focused environment with legal, compliance and financial focuses. This individual will be an energetic and motivated person with a drive for involvement from sales cycle to client implementation.

Major Responsibilities

Establish and maintain an excellent and professional relationship with Business Development, Relationship Management, New Business Implementation and other internal partners.
Balance the needs of the client and CPU in terms of services and profitable revenue.
Responsible for ensuring in the achievement of budgeted sales.
Ensure all prospective new business falls within profitability and serviceability guidelines.
Act as financial approver for Sales Incentive plan ensuring fees and profitability are in-line with term sheet and revenue model.
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual pipeline, win/loss, and revenue reports.
Part of a team of SMEs responsible for overseeing the resolution of complex administrative and legal requirements on signed new business.
Act as SME responsible for assisting with completion of RFPs from a system, product and legal/compliance perspective.
Prepare product matrix for post mandated new business for New Business Implementation.
Ensure all regulatory filing, included but not limited to AML/KYC/ATF are completed and filed timely for all new clients and plans.
Ensure trust agreements/administration agreements for new client and new plans are successfully negotiated and executed.
Interaction with NBI team to ensure successful implementation.
Act as Product Specialist / Subject Matter Expert, with in-depth knowledge of CPU Plan systems and plan types with focus on Canadian plans.

Education & Training

University degree in Commerce, Finance, or Business Administration; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Canadian Securities Course required.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Strong contract negotiation skills.
Bi-lingual, English and French, desired.

Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in Stock Transfer, Securities and/or Plans Administration.
Proven ability to build strong, successful customer relationships.
Experience being involved in a sales cycle including solutions involving outsourced as well as consulting services.
Intermediate level experience (or training) on PC applications, such as word processing, Excel, e-mail, and in-house systems.
Strong legal and compliance knowledge desired.

Decision Making & Problem Solving

Makes decisions with respect to prioritizing work, determining ability to administer plan and designing workarounds, negotiating agreements – acceptable language.
Analyzes sales cycle data in driving sales and marketing approach, provide analysis findings in supporting product and service improvements.
Reviews and recommends pricing to balance profitability and industry competitiveness.
Negotiates agreements with internal and external contacts (ie; management, Operations, CTS and client).

Independently makes decisions regarding work priorities.
Independently handles client escalations. Only seeks advice from management when consequences of client complaint could result in significant losses to Computershare.
Co-ordinates the work of different departments/groups for bring on of new business – Example: NBI team, internal/external Legal Counsel and client.

Consequence of Error and Budget Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for accurately identifying and resolving any administration/system issues. Errors in accuracy may result in major losses to Computershare.
Failure to identify and/or address issues (ie. unacceptable workarounds or clauses) could result in considerable financial loss to Computershare as well as loss of reputation.
The provision of improper solution to a client may result in considerable financial loss to Computershare as well as loss of reputation
Responsible for ensuring adherence to ‘in-the box’ or approved workarounds. Any oversight/error can result in substantial risk and/or loss for plan sponsor and Computershare.
Failure to provide acceptable service to Clients can have significant impact to other departments. For example, many Plan Managers clients are also TA clients, so if client chooses to terminate Computershare’s services, they may choose to end their contract with the TA side of the business at the same time.
Incorrect/inadequate pricing of new services can result in lost revenue for Computershare.
This position must adhere to budget and business objectives and expectations relating to the generation of revenue (fees) that have a direct bearing on the budget and profitability of the department.
This position has indirect (not front line sales) responsibility or accountability for budget.
