We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for an Observer Supervisor in the Corporate Resource Teams department at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Summary of Duties / Key Responsibilities:
The Corporate Nursing Resource Team seeks a dynamic individual to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Observer Team and the clerical staff of the Nursing Resource Team (NRT).
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager (PCM), the Supervisor will work with members of the inter-professional team corporately where Observers are assigned, and with the NRT clerical team to provide comprehensive and seamless services.
Working collaboratively with the PCM and members of the inter-professional team, the successful candidate will:
Accountable and oversee the hiring, training & supervision of staff.
Manage workloads and duties of clerical staff and corporate observers with the goal of ensuring efficient workflow in all areas.
Coordinate the office team to ensure proper program staffing.
Analyze and trend efficiency indicators within the program.
Work collaboratively with PCMs for improved systems, models, and staffing guidelines.
Continually develop and document policies and procedures for clerical staff.
Act as a resource person for clerical staff in the NRT.
Act as resource to corporate PCMs regarding Observers coverage, competency and performance.
Provide coaching and regular feedback for staff on performance, including carrying out performance appraisals.
Organize tasks and set priorities based on urgency
Ensure that assignments, documentation, and required follow up is completed within specific time frames.
Review and schedule vacation requests in collaboration with PCM.
Liaise with other clinical services related to Observer role as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Successful completion of post – secondary education in administration or health care related field from an accredited educational institution
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience preferably working within a complex healthcare environment
Demonstrated experience with process improvement project work preferred
Confident interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
Established skills in Electronic Scheduling Program (ESP), and electronic records an asset
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work collaboratively and supportively with an inter-professional and diverse team.
