JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Aquatic & Fitness Supervisor in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, the Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for a part-time contract Aquatic Coordinator position.

DUTIES
Create long-range plans for the growth and development of aquatics programs for the community.
Oversee the implementation and supervision of all aquatic programs and services.
Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive pre-season training programs for all aquatic staff, as well as in-service trainings throughout the session.
Supervise, coach and evaluate all staff and volunteers responsible for carrying out aquatic programs.
Review the collection of accurate records of program statistics as required by the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.
Plan, organize, schedule, and deliver high quality, safe and stimulating programs for all levels of participants.
Take appropriate action upon the report of all concerns, accidents and incidents and direct unsolved issues to the immediate supervisor for follow up.
Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies and Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or Diploma in Recreation & Leisure Services or related field.
Current Lifesaving National Lifeguard Pool, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors, Lifesaving Instructors, Standard First Aid with CPR-C, High Five, Aquatic Supervisor Training, Bronze Examiner, National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner, Standard First Aid Instructor Examiner, Instructor Trainer – Swim, Instructor Trainer – Lifesaving.
Experience using ActiveNet is an asset.
Exceptional customer service and oral/written communication skills.
Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license with a clean driver abstract and reliable vehicle is required for this position.
An acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position at the incumbent’s expense prior to the commencement date.

Compensation for this position is Category 11, $26.79 per hour pursuant to the Casual Wage Schedule for up to 35 hours per week. Interested applicants are invited to submit their resume (MS Word or PDF format) in confidence by January 27, 2020 at noon.
