With 20 offices and more than 900 employees across Canada, Dillon offers a wide range of services related to building and improving facilities and infrastructure, protecting the environment, and developing communities.
We are currently seeking candidates for the position of a Senior Planner, in our Toronto, Oakville or Kitchener offices. You will be a senior member of Dillon’s Planning and Design group which comprises policy, physical and development planners, urban designers, landscape architects, graphic artists and transportation & transit planners located in our offices across Canada. You will be a key part of our multi-disciplinary group serving our public sector (federal, provincial and municipal), and Indigenous clients.
As a senior team member, you will be working with our team of urban, rural and regional policy planners, designers, environmental scientists and infrastructure engineers serving our GTA clients.
Development and management of projects for public sector clients related to a wide range of Policy Planning projects that could include Official Plans, secondary plans, Zoning By-laws, mobility plans, climate change policy, growth management and residential and employment land studies
Effectively leading stakeholder consultation programs and presentations
Leadership in the development and enhancement of relationships with new and existing clients to promote Dillon’s business growth in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and surrounding areas
Leading marketing initiatives, including profile building exercises, proposal writing and client liaison
Commitment to being part of a learning organization, to providing leadership and contributing to the career development of staff, including technical direction, training, coaching and mentoring
Leadership and continued development and growth of the GTA-based team of planning professionals
Contributions to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and development industry groups as well as continued fostering of client relationships
Travel to client locations and other Dillon offices for project delivery, client relationship development, and opportunity/project research, as necessary
A degree in planning or a related field, preferably at the Master’s level
Full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI), or eligible to be a member within six months is desirable
A minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in the consulting industry; preference to 15 years’ experience or more
Known, respected, and active within the GTA planning marketplace. Has direct connections to clients and decision-makers
Demonstrated senior level experience with Policy Planning projects including Official Plans, secondary plans, Zoning By-laws, mobility plans, climate change policy, growth management and residential and employment land studies
Demonstrated experience in business development, client relationship management, project team leadership (including multidisciplinary teams), project management and project delivery as reflected by representative project experience
Experience providing expert testimony and resolving issues through mediation
Knowledge of the changing policy planning legislation in Ontario
Superior leadership, verbal and written communication, report writing, organization and interpersonal skill
