Sage Resolutions is currently hiring Behavior Interventionist & Residential Support Worker to work with children/youths.We are looking for individuals with experience handling Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Trauma, and how to respond effectively to associated behaviors.

We offer full benefits and regular professional training for successful candidates following their probationary period. The full-time work schedule is based on a 3 on 3 off rotation. During your three days on, you are living in the assigned therapeutic resource home with the child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify behavior and utilize relevant treatment strategies.
  • Educate emotion management skills and coping strategies to the child/teen
  • Build relationships with the child/teen to encourage trust.
  • Listening to and interpreting the child/teens needs and concerns, discuss the best way to plan and deliver their care as part of the medical team and management team.
  • Apply 'de-escalation' techniques to support children to manage their emotions and behavior.
  • Care for the child/teen experiencing acute mental distress as part of the medical team and management team.
  • Have the ability to work within a legal and ethical framework.
  • Provide first aid as needed and refer patients to medical care as the Clinical Team deems necessary.
  • Hours: flexibility required – hours must meet operational requirements and children's needs.
  • Provide transportation for children to attend requisite appointments
  • Provide general day-to-day care.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • Background education in either early childhood,Teaching,Psychology,social work and sociology will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge or experience with developmental disorders.
  • At least one year experience in frontline care of children with challenging behaviors, behavior intervention and/or early childhood education.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle.
  • A clear criminal record check.
  • Hours: flexibility required – hours must meet operational requirements and children's needs.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the company policies
  • Know when to seek appropriate supervision.
  • Detail/Task oriented to ensure that all procedures are followed.
  • Team player. ['It takes a village to raise a child.']
  • Care and compassion for children with moderate to severe behavior and/or developmental disorders.
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel) required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Trauma, and how to respond effectively to associated behaviors.
