Evonik Industries, its Burnaby, B.C. site, specializes in parenteral formulation development and manufacturing process design and implementation at small, intermediate, and large/commercial scales. This enables manufacturing of complex lipid-based formulations of therapeutic agents for preclinical and clinical testing in its state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facilities and transfer of drug product manufacturing to commercial facilities. Core analytical methods include HPLC/UPLC, physicochemical characterization assays such as vesicle size, zeta potential, osmolality and separation techniques such as size exclusion and centrifugal filtration

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the technical assessment of VAN DDE projects in a manner that builds a sustainable project pipeline for VAN R&D. Act as a resource and/or subject matter expert related to DDE projects assessed and/or undertaken at other sites, when deemed appropriate.
Serve as a point of contact between the DDE business segment and potential/current clients, regarding technical discussions related to parenteral drug delivery and complex parenteral drug products
Proactively organize and accompany global sales team members on client site visits to promote Evonik’s scientific expertise related to parenteral drug delivery business and communicate Evonik Health Care’s broader technical capabilities.
Support Health Care communications and marketing team with the generation and review of marketing materials (presentations, white papers, brochures, website content, etc.) and contribute to the planning of external marketing opportunities (scientific conferences, trade shows, etc.).
Support DDE business development and global sales teams via business/technical presentations (to individual companies and at business/technical conferences), hosting client business development site visits, follow up with potential clients (phone, email, company visits), and attending external meetings (scientific conferences, tradeshows, etc.).

REQUIREMENTS

Advanced technical degree (PhD)
15+ year experience in the pharmaceutical drug delivery industry
Strong ability to communicate technically over a broad range of technologies and strong ability to respond to client technical questions
Comprehensive knowledge of drug delivery technologies and complex parenteral formulations
Knowledge of Drug Product development
Ability to build Evonik visibility in the local community, includes interaction with local schools
