COMMUNITY OUTREACH WORKER

The Kootenay Brain Injury Association is seeking a part time (11 hrs/week) Community Outreach worker on a contract basis under the supervision of our Executive Director to provide high quality services to our clients/patients in the Invermere area and surrounding communities.

Job duties include:

  • To provide direct support to individuals living with the effects of an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
  • To assist these individuals to fully participate in their communities.
  • To facilitate skills group to meet the goals as outlined by WKBIA.
  • To advocate for individuals for appropriate services in the health care, legal and social arenas
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports.
  • To provide family support.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum training requirements are a Human Service Worker diploma or equivalent. Experience working with individuals with brain injury and/or training in neuro- behavioral strategies would be an asset. Sensitivity to issues around cultural diversity and cognitive and behavioral challenges of individuals with brain injury will be required for this position. Candidates should demonstrate excellent time management and ability to prioritize.
