Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commodity Sales and Product Management, the Assistant Product Manager will be responsible for managing Conestoga Meats' CM fresh and frozen commodity portfolios. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: optimizing sales volume and financial objectives; monitoring and selling fresh and frozen inventory proactively ensuring a healthy margin; developing and maintaining strong and effective customer relationships; being aligned with and executing the department's initiatives and strategies; providing effective, timely, and concise communication throughout the internal and external organization as it pertains to Conestoga Meats' business. Also responsible for analyzing market conditions and overseeing the production requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee and provide direction to supply chain regarding the management of daily fresh inventory variances
Prepare and maintain weekly disposition sheets for Senior Management
Oversee and provide direction regarding the preparation and balancing of daily cutting instructions for the Operations Department
Review Agri Stats and provide monthly root cause analysis. Build recommendations for short and long term optimization opportunities for their specific primal responsibilities
Initiate, update and maintain Product Specification Sheets and planning tool
Daily review of yields and efficiencies
Costing work as directed by the Senior Manager, Commodity Sales and Product Management
Accountable for providing overall direction and implement product strategies with Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations
Work directly with and provide cross functional leadership to the appropriate Line Supervisor on both shifts as well as specific Sales reps
Responsible for developing cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, opportunity and profitability across their particular categories
Implement and measure effectiveness of pricing strategies developed in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Commodity Sales and Product Management
Provide Expertise on pork market pricing USDA, Canadian market, exchange rate, Urner Barry
Ensure timely internal customer service weekly pricing is issued based on customer requirements
Review daily inventory, fresh, frozen and Work in Progress and plan dispositions with Assistant Product Managers and Sales
Negotiate and sell to commodity accounts weekly
Available for on call in evenings as well as Saturdays as required
Adhere to all company policies and business code of ethics

Qualifications

1 - 3 years of work experience in a role focused on business analytics
Post Secondary education is an asset
Financial skills in order to prepare budgets, cost standards, analyze variances, etc.
Office/project management software skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities at the same time
Strong Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel
Technologically savvy and able to learn various enterprise systems
Team player; maintain a positive attitude, and work collaboratively cross functionally
Proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement
Strong initiative and drive to succeed
