We are looking for someone who can do it all! Do you have administrative experience and love to learn new things? Are you organized, good with people and a great problem-solver? This is a full-time, seasonal position with the possibility of becoming a permanent full-time position. This position will start in March 2020 and will go through to November 2020.

Position: Retail Nursery Administrator

Schedule: March-April: Flexible. May-September: Tuesday – Saturday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Kiwi Nurseries is a family-owned tree nursery and garden center with 100’s of different varieties of prairie hardy trees, shrubs and perennials. We pride ourselves on providing top quality plant material, accurate information, and personalized customer service. In 2019, Kiwi Nurseries celebrated our 40th year in business by expanding our tropical plant selection and adding new seeds and herbs to the products we offer. We are also excited to start hosting more classes, workshops and private events in the 2020 season!

The Role:
Your primary role would be as the first point of contact at the Nursery, answering phones, e-mails, and helping both retail and commercial clients. You would be the primary person responsible for estimating and invoicing of retail clients and contractors through our POS system. You will find yourself communicating with suppliers, answering questions about plant maintenance, arranging residential deliveries and plantings, and a variety of other tasks depending on what the day holds. Filling out and receiving paperwork. You must be interested in learning about indoor and outdoor plants, and how to care for them.

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Be over 18
  • Have excellent computer skills with above average proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Have minimum 5 years experience in Office Administration
  • Be self-motivated and learn quickly
  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and filling several roles within a fast-paced environment
  • Value professionalism and organization
  • Be familiar with POS systems and comfortable with sitting for long periods
  • Be an excellent verbal and written communicator and proficient proof-reader
  • Enjoy working with the public and a variety of personality types
  • Be comfortable directing staff and communicating via radio

The following experience would be an asset, but is not required:

  • Landscaping or personal gardening and general plant knowledge
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Social Media and Marketing experience
  • Event planning experience

Training will be provided to the successful candidate; however previous experience will greatly contribute to your success in this position.
