Recognized as one of Alberta's Top 75 Employers in 2020, we are currently looking for a full time Automation Systems Technician in Mississauga, ON. The Automation Systems Technician is responsible for providing customer and technical support for installation projects as well as service and troubleshooting.
Main Job Responsibilities:
Carries out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications and contracts in order to determine and advise on overall project requirements; manages all routine aspects of project including estimating, design, tracking, start up and planning phases; material and equipment procurement
Responds to all types of customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours calls on a timely basis; will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and debug a substantial variety of systems for complex problems.
Identifies and resolves problems for all types of service calls including emergency calls; analyzes repair requirements and provides customer with appropriate solutions; completes necessary repairs and replacements as needed; exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
Provides technical support to end users when applicable. Proactively seeks technical guidance from more experienced staff for difficult and unusual situations.
Utilize advanced programming skills to execute new and existing projects and troubleshoot problems
Manages assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
Advises Project Manager regarding products needed for installation, identifying any items which have longer lead times, and tracks materials on an ongoing basis to ensure timely arrival/delivery to the project site.
Prepares and/or reviews formal submittal booklets, containing schematics, and technical literature as necessary to support each contract.
Acts as a technical resource and support to sales executives including attending pre booking meetings.
Provides diagnostic and troubleshooting support for possible problems including debugging software, electrical problems, installation problems etc. to existing customers, sales team and service department as necessary.
Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
5-7 years of previous, relevant field service in Building Automation is required
Experience programming Building Automation Systems or Programmable Logical Controllers (PLCs) required;
Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical school is desired
Knowledge of Schneider products including certification is desirable
Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
Developing technical skills and experience related to building automation systems
Solid knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems
Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions
Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Solid organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada (for example, by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or work permit)
