The position of Equipment Maintenance Project Supervisor has two main phases. In the first, you will work in project mode and actively participate in planning for the operationalization of all components of the maintenance program, with a view to VIA’s future needs once the new fleet has been acquired. In the second, you will take over management of a team and work actively to implement the new maintenance plan in the shop. Specifically, you will:

  • Draw on your maintenance experience and actively participate in planning for the operationalization of procedures
  • Actively participate in setting up the new fleet’s maintenance plan with your team in new shops
  • Be an agent of change in the transition and support, train and coach maintenance employees during the transition to new procedures, including new technology
In this position, you can expect to help VIA:
  • Modernize and align the rolling stock maintenance program for all equipment, both existing and new
  • Assess proposed solutions to ensure easy execution once the project is completed
  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative and creativity while meeting “technical” and “people” objectives
  • Minimize resistance to change through good planning and impact analysis
  • Meet high Health and Safety standards in operationalizing all aspects of the program
Requirements :
This position is right for you if you have:
  • A vocational diploma or equivalent experience in heavy machinery maintenance
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy machinery maintenance (railway an asset), including a minimum of 2 years supervising unionized teams
  • Experience in changing procedures in a unionized industrial setting (railway an asset)
  • Availability to work outside of regular hours to identify needs and oversee implementation
  • Availability for occasional travel (less than 10% of the time)
  • Ability to speak French an asset
