The Moncton Wildcats is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Moncton Wildcats dynamic QMJHL ice hockey team. The Moncton Wildcats are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. They play out of the brand-new world-class Moncton Events Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

The Senior Accountant's primary function is to lead and manage the company's financial reporting, stewardship, internal controls and all risks associated with assets and liabilities. The Senior Accountant must thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and detail. The selected candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a “Can Do” attitude, an analytical thinker, highly motivated, customer-focused and detail-oriented.

Education Required: University Degree in Business or Commerce coupled with a recognized accounting designation
Years of Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience. Management experience is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel
Self-starter with ability to work on multiple tasks within a strict time frame in an organized manner
Ability to work and communicate well with others in a team environment
Ability to analyze and communicate data effectively and accurately
Ability to prioritize, coordinate and manage multiple activities

Key Responsibilities:
Preparation and analysis of weekly and monthly financial statements as well as other financial reports
Manage cash flow and maintain financial security by establishing and reinforcing best internal control practices
Manage annual budget and tax filing process
Manage audit process (internal and external)
Prepare month end recurring journal entries and assist with month/year end closing
Analyze variances of expense accounts to budget and forecasting
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure compliance with internal audit requirements
Identify and implement system improvement opportunities
Lead training, coaching and support to the junior accountant
Aid in other day-to-day accounting functions as required
