Job Description

At least 75% of time involved in pickup and delivery of product usually between clients facility. Responsible for general sanitation of vehicle and ensuring regular maintenance, in accordance with Compass Group’s standards and specifications.

Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation policies and procedures.
Drivers are responsible for filling out logs – kilometer tracking - to show that they have followed rules, which mandate maximum driving times and rest periods between shifts.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and reports malfunctions to management.
Clean trucks as scheduled and/or required.
Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
Ensure vehicles are safely and securely stored.
Maintain daily records of deliveries. Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries
Practice safe food handling procedures at all times.
Load and unload equipment and food on and off of catering vans.
Transport, and deliver items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
Checks catering order sheets while loading catering van to insure all equipment, food and supplies being sent are correct and the customer is satisfied.
Assist with loading and unloading items from vehicles.
Pick up equipment from customers and verify that all is accounted for by using equipment list or order.
Reports all missing equipment to the Catering Manager.
Secure all catering equipment in the back store room in orderly fashion to insure nothing is lost.
Based on instructions from the Catering Manager, assist or oversee the set-up of tables, chairs, linens, chafing dishes and other utensils needed for a successful catering event.
Ensure that all orders are properly filled before deliveries.
Maintain all work areas in clean and orderly manner.
Ensure that all orders are delivered on time and pick-ups are done on time.
Must be neat and conscious of personal hygiene, and to wear uniforms provided.
Exercise excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Keep communication lines open so that management knows your whereabouts during all work hours.
Refill their vehicle gas tank when down to a quarter tank with corporate gas card.
Ensures customer messages/communications are relayed to appropriate management.
Assist with stocking the shipping and receiving department to include lifting and carrying cartons and placing them on appropriate shelves.
Perform quality checks on utility carts to ensure all product has been packed properly.
In case of collision advise management immediately and follow accident reporting procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned in the kitchen.


Ability to understand, read, write, follow instructions and interact with customers in order to assure customer satisfaction.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Must possess a valid driving license

Must be bondable

High School Diploma

Previous experience an asset

This is one of the Eurest Dining Units of Compass Group which is located downtown Toronto.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary: $18 /hour
