Project Manager - Contracts
Veolia North America (VNA) is recruiting an Project Manager - Contracts for the Winnipeg Sewage Treatment Program (WSTP). We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic engineering professional to join our team in Winnipeg, Canada.

The WSTP is a long-term strategic partnership between Veolia and the City of Winnipeg for capital project delivery and operation and maintenance of the City’s three wastewater treatment plants. The first part of the program focuses on development and delivery of over $1B of upgrades to sewage treatment plants.
The North End Water Pollution Control Centre (NEWPCC) Upgrade involves the upgrade of many key areas of the facility to meet licencing requirements. All work will involve execution and coordination alongside other contracts, inclusive of maintaining continuity of plant operation.
The role will provide technical and project management support through contract development, design, construction and commissioning of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre Headworks Facilities as well as supporting various other project initiatives. This role will:
Review of design build technical specifications and RFP’s
Participate in and provide recommendation during bid evaluation
Support City project managers by providing advice and recommendations during detailed design, construction and commissioning of the DB contract
Contribute towards the development of technical standards to be used in contract documents
Understand the interactions/impacts between existing plant process and new construction in order to provide strategic mitigation of risks
Review of project schedules to identify logic busts or areas that require coordination, either with other contractors or existing process
Support the Project Managers through review and recommendation of contract changes.
Provide or facilitate knowledge and expertise to the City in understanding and resolving technical issues relating to process
Develop and support the implementation of program strategies fostering best for Program decisions
May participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
Attend project meetings as well as meetings regarding the Winnipeg Sewage Treatment Program (WSTP) as a whole to identify any cross risks or impacts to the Program
Assist City Project Managers in reviewing and managing risk with respect to Project budget / plan and schedule
Professional engineer with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience
Minimum of five (5) years of recent design build contract experience
Current registration with Engineers Geoscience Manitoba as a P. Eng, or eligibility for registration
Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and analytical skills.
Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
Team building, including the ability to create strong morale and spirit within the team and share wins as a team.
Experience in writing technical performance specifications and managing DB contracts
Mechanical or Civil Engineer
Experience with the construction of major wastewater treatment projects in Canada.
Recognized certification in contract management or construction risk management.
Technical understanding of the wastewater or water treatment industry.
Experience on project where continuity of current operations was an important factor
Experience on a project where the project site has multiple contracts (DB,s DBB’s) being conducted simultaneously
Wastewater experience pertaining to raw sewage pumping, fine screening, compactors and grit removal systems, and dewatering
Experience with deep excavations and tunneling
