As an Environmental I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, restocking supplies in bathroom facilities and, stripping linen and remaking beds. This includes replenishing cleaning supplies and linens and identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required. (Internal applicants without a High School Diploma will be considered). Basic knowledge of computer programs, such as email, is required. Applicants must have, at minimum, basic computer skills. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand and follow written and oral directions in English. Must be dependable, thorough and be able to work with minimal supervision. All new employees will be required to attend a 5-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1- day AHS Orientation. Valid work permit/visa.
Preference will be given to those applicants that have previous experience performing environmental cleaning duties in a hospital or institution, as well as extensive knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, basic maintenance and troubleshooting. Previous knowledge and application of WHMIS would be an asset. A combination of education, training and relevant experience, including customer-service experience, may be considered.
