The Strategic Procurement Manager – Fuel Procurement will lead and manage, independently or in collaboration with the Senior Strategic Procurement Manager - Fuel Supply, the planning, sourcing, and physical acquisition of safe, reliable, and uninterrupted supplies of jet fuel and other petroleum related products in order to support Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, AC Jetz, AC Cargo operations for domestic and international locations.

In this role, responsibilities will include conducting supply market research, establishing sourcing strategies, seeking proposals, analysis of received proposals and ensuing analytics, conducting negotiations, draft contracts and be responsible for implementation and vendor management.

Manage procurement events, independently or in collaboration with the Senior Strategic Procurement Manager - Fuel Supply :
Conduct supply market research and baseline spend analysis
Work with cross functional teams to determine business requirements and establish sourcing strategies
Manage competitive bid and contract negotiations
Design and implement category strategies that deliver financial and other performance targets such as service, quality, and risk management
Represent Air Canada at commercial industry committees, working & lobby groups, and conferences including IATA, Star Alliance, A4A, and ALTA
Draft and execute contracts and record in the Ariba system

Contribute to the improvement of internal procurement practices:
Participate in the establishment of best-in-class procurement methods
Develop models to evaluate supplier proposals using quantitative and qualitative criteria
Actively manage overall vendor relationships and performance
Ensure contracted services are provided
Ensure compliance with established SP processes
Address operational issues
Support operation by facilitating discussion between parties
Act as tactful facilitator during problem resolution without compromising the business relationship

Implement audit procedures:
Audit vendors based on pre-determined criteria
Report on audit findings
Responsible for corrective measures

Operational responsibilities for domestic and international jet fuel supply
Ensure supplier’s fuel quality & technical fuel handling specifications/procedures comply with Air Canada’s specification
Proactive approach to ensure 100% security of supply at all stations 24/7/365
Monitor, communicate and implement corrective measures
Manage fuel management system to ensure it contains accurate commercial elements
Responsible for vendor invoice validation
Manage jet fuel nominations to suppliers and operators
Manage inventory reconciliations of jet fuel receipts and dispensals

Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Procurement / Finance field and/or fuel industry, with at least 1 year working with cross-department project teams across multiple disciplinary functions
University degree in the relevant field of study (Commerce, Supply chain, Finances) or professional experience to support the responsibilities of this role
In addition to a University degree in a relevant field of study, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership, analytical, communication, negotiation, and project management skills plus the ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and accommodate changing priorities.
Full proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Strong entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to innovate
High degree of professionalism and discretion is essential
Flexibility with work hours and occasional travel may be required
Completion of (or working towards) a designation in SCMA, ISM or other procurement designation is an asset
