ABOUT OUR OPERATION
Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 is anticipated to be the last year of the Meadowbank mine production and it is now transitioning to process the satellite deposit Amaruq for August 2019.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Engineering Coordinator, the Drill and Blast Support is responsible to provide plans and services related to drilling and blasting engineering within the Open Pit Engineering Department. He/she will work in close collaboration with the Drill and Blast Engineer, conducting field observations to ensure optimal work quality. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
In collaboration with the Drill and Blast Engineer, provide Drill Designs and Loading Instructions to the D&B crew and survey as required;
Ensure blast notifications are prepared and distributed to all Meadowbank personnel, providing guard position maps to the D&B crew;
Provide tie-in plans and perform pre-blast field checks with the D&B Supervisor and/or Blasters to check that the tie-in plan is respected and gather any QA/QC information;
Set up cameras for filming blasts and create and send videos once the blasting is complete;
Set up seismographs for vibration monitoring for each blast and do data entry/comments accordingly;
Verify data for the Meadowbank operations weekly update;
Collaborate on drilling and blasting optimization initiatives or investigations;
Participate in data analysis and reporting as required for Engineering, Environment (vibration), D&B Crew, Geology, etc.;
Provide technical drawing services for Engineering on request;
Promote Health and Safety to the survey team by hosting meetings, conducting field visits and work card control, procedure redaction and developing incident/accident prevention initiatives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Mine Technician Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field;
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a mining environment;
Strong software skills in AutoCAD and Deswik;
Project management skills, good organizational skills, high learning capacity, and problem-solving abilities;
Experience working in a multicultural environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
