PT Faculty to teach Dual Credits
Digital Photography & Imaging
We are seeking PT Faculty with background in Photography to teach Digital Photography & Imaging at a variety of locations across Durham Region.
The successful candidate will be required to teach twice a week (75 minute periods). The dual credit starts the week of September 16th and runs until the week of December 16, 2019. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching experience.
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of capturing visual images with a camera. Instruction will consider both the technical and visual components of the photograph as well as basic image manipulation techniques. Students will receive instruction in the use of digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera. The cameras used will require the student to manually adjust shutter speed and aperture. Critical thinking skills in understanding and interpreting photographs will also be taught. Assignments will include the use of composition, depth of field, portrait shooting on location, studio photography, and image editing. This course introduces the student to camera and image manipulation, from the camera to software applications such as Adobe PhotoShop, Bridge, Camera Raw, and printing output.
The dual credit program allows students to participate in post-secondary courses and apprenticeship training, earning dual credits that count towards both their high school diploma and their post-secondary diploma, degree or apprenticeship certification.
Dual credits engage students through exposure to college courses and culture while supporting their successful transition to post-secondary education. Presently, over 2,000 area high school students are taking a dual credit program with Durham College.
