Assistant Director, Event Operations (Banquets)

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Event Operations, respons ibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Strong floor presence, operational support of leaders managing events
Mentorship, development and succession planning of colleagues and leaders within department
Build and promote positive relationships with all teams in the Hotel to ensure an amazing guest experience
Participate in meetings with the key stakeholders
Assisting Director of Event Operations with comment on Forecast and Profit and Loss analysis
Ensure attendance at pre-conference meetings and develop strong relations with on-site clients ensuring proactive guest service
Create effective result driven strategies to exceed guest satisfaction scores, colleague engagement and financial goals
Assume responsibility of all facilities of over 78,000 square feet function space from set-up and tear-down to cleanliness, audits, repairs and maintenance
Participate and guide departmental monthly meetings
Oversee and lead one on ones and performance management discussions
Coordinate with the Conference Services and Culinary Teams to ensure timelines are met and dietary needs are covered.
Accountable for ensuring completion of projects and accuracy of these projects
Perform other duties as directed by the Director, Event Operations, Director, Food and Beverage or Hotel Management
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
2 years leadership experience in Food and Beverage Management specifically in banquet/event/conference setting required
Strong beverage knowledge required
“Proserve” Certified
Results oriented with the ability to be flexible, work well under pressure and be accountable to make sound, thoughtful business decisions
Creative and effective leader and team player, possessing a high degree of professionalism, sound human resources management principles, communication, administrative skills, ambition, drive, energy, and determination
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Windows programs
Proven track record of strong financial and beverage cost control knowledge and applications are required
Basic knowledge of Fairmont Hotels Sales and Catering System, Property Manager, Birchstreet, Silverware, Avero – all regarded as helpful assets
The ability to delegate tasks to team members and facilitate their completion

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

Constant standing and walking through shifts
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, and push up to 200 lbs on a daily basis
Sitting for extended periods of time
Kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting on a daily basis
Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
