What is the opportunity?

General Ledger Governance and Advisory (GL G&A) is the Center of Excellence for Attestation Administration and Financial Controls. The Director, GL Governance and Advisory will be responsible for managing the RBC balance sheet attestation process and provide guidance and oversight for the RBC GL Attestation Policy.

The Director will lead change management of new data analytics to ensure consistency and relevancy; analyze and recommend exceptions / changes to Enterprise General Ledger Attestation Policy on a periodic basis including a fulsome communication strategy; as well as liaise and collaborate with Internal Audit ensuring coordinated assurance of oversight functions.

What will you do?

Lead team of 2 senior managers along with their teams to continuously seek to improve process and drive impactful changes
Establish and promote the GL Governance & Advisory team as the centre of expertise for RBC’s monthly GL attestation cycle.
Propose changes to Policy based upon data analytics along with continuous feedback from Finance teams
Develop strong control framework to ensure data elements are accurate and complete.
Develop communication strategy to promote new analytics – approve and oversee any new reporting & analytics
Establish strong access controls around data
Provide oversight and review of reporting and analytics prepared for the Platforms to ensure consistency messaging when interpreting the analytics.
Develop Enterprise data analytics that include risk based elements and promote further recommendations to the Attestation Cycle and or Policy as a result of findings
Review and present monthly attestation results and analysis for the Enterprise Controllership Council to drive conversation around improving overall Financial Control Framework
Manage and recommend budget spend on technology to drive efficiencies and automation while contemplating longer term technology solutions

What do you need to succeed?


University Degree required
Accounting designation
Strong leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills; continuous coaching and feedback
Initiative and ability to drive issues to conclusion coupled with strong problem solving and analytical skills
Advanced user proficiency with computer applications, such as Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint, spreadsheet/financial accounting skills, and any other related accounting software


Analytics degree, designation
5+ years experience in Financial Services Industry
Knowledge of RBC financial systems and associated procedure
