The Sr. IT Operations Administrator is responsible for helping to maintain all aspects of system administration within Clearview, including implementing, monitoring, securing and maintaining all hardware and software used in the business. We are a Microsoft shop, utilizing Exchange and MS SQL servers on premise, and supporting a team of developers using .Net and a variety of tools. We are DevOps driven to an efficient, automated infrastructure and production environment. We built our own datacenter and are 100% virtual with VMware, providing back office software that supports over 10,000 clients worldwide 24/7/365. The IT Ops team is responsible for ensuring a high level of uptime in a proactive, secure, reliable and cost-effective manner.

What will your day look like?

Duties and tasks include, but are not limited to:

Industry Research and Best Practices

ยท Maintaining an understanding of relevant best practices, current trends and new technology that is influencing the industry; making recommendations for how CLEARVIEW can utilize these trends to support and improve our infrastructure

  • Auditing the infrastructure to ensure conventions and best practices are followed
  • Reducing the risk of security breaches by introducing and following security best-practices (e.g. applying updates to hosts, utilizing ACL, reducing attack vectors, etc.)
  • Working with technology vendors to obtain quotes and process orders

System Administration

  • Completing daily routines such as back-up checks, restores, log checks and alert follow-up
  • Making improvements as needed to achieve high availability of the IT infrastructure, application services, etc. and to improve reliability of our network, upgrades, patches and security
  • Establishing new procedures, deploying new hardware or software when required
  • Creating scripts (with PowerShell) to automate tasks
  • Ensuring all data and applications (where required) are backed up and tested
  • Provisioning equipment and changes to the infrastructure including workstations, servers, network equipment, applications, IP Phones, etc.

Documentation and Recordkeeping

  • Writing and maintaining documentation of the infrastructure, procedures and other elements of the department
  • Maintaining inventory documentation of all company devices and application licenses

Internal Support

  • Providing support and applicable training to end users at multiple locations
  • Responding to infrastructure interruptions outside regular working hours when necessary

Qualifications

You should be:

  • Strong in managing a Windows IT environment with 200+ devices
  • Strong in PowerShell, with extensive experience automating with PowerShell
  • A self-starter, well-organized, detail oriented and thorough
  • Able to write and manage documentation (good written communication)
  • Familiar with current IT security and general IT best practices
  • Experienced with modern system administration concepts including configuration management, change management, ITIL and SANS, DevOps processes
  • Competent with:
  • Azure configuration and management
  • Veeam Backup Software
  • HP Servers and storage
  • Exchange (managing experience is an asset)
  • MS SQL Server (managing experience is an asset)
  • Cisco and HP networking equipment (preferred but not required)
  • Cisco VoIP telephony systems (preferred but not required)
  • Checkpoint Firewall Management (preferred but not required)

And have:

  • A university or college degree in Computer Science or a related program, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years recent IT administration experience
  • Experience working in a VMware environment
  • A general understanding of networking concepts

Industry standard certifications in technical/project management skills are not required but considered an asset

On call and after-hours onsite work will be required at times
