Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Water Projects, the Project Lead is responsible for leading projects in a project management role and engage in water quality projects in support the Elk Valley Water Plan and the commitments detailed in permit 107517.
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Manage projects to defined outcomes in order to meet business objectives related to permit commitments
Develop and maintain accurate project scope, schedule, and budget
Foster a culture of open and early communication with a “No Surprises” philosophy
Support efficient decision processes through information gathering, trade-off studies, risk evaluations, and providing recommendations that align with project objectives and priorities
Foster a culture of meeting and resolving challenges as they arise and driving projects to meet key success factors of safety, cost, schedule, and quality
Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Hazard and Operability Studies, and environmental risk assessments
Participate in value-engineering, constructability, and operability reviews
Develop and maintain strong relationships with a project stakeholders
Contribute to the continual improvement of project delivery systems and processes to enable improved outcomes for current and future projects
Participate in the annual business planning cycle, including forecasting and budgeting
Lead Project teams to engage stakeholders across site, corporate functional areas, and operations to achieve key project success factors of safety, cost, schedule, and quality
Lead projects through all phases from pre-scoping through to execution and handover to Operations in compliance with the Teck Project Delivery and Small Project Frameworks
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science in Forestry, Biology, Agriculture, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, or related field
Professional accreditation (RPF, PBio, PAg or P.Eng registered, or eligible for registration with, Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia) is considered a strong asset
Three to five years of professional work experience on projects including engineering design, environmental assessments, permitting, or construction
Previous experience in processing, water, waste water, or environmental projects is considered an asset
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Excellent project management skills including development and management of scope, schedule, and budget for multiple projects
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills effective across all levels of an organization, multiple internal and external stakeholders including consultants
