Job Description

As a result of growth Dexterra, has a NEW opportunity for a Tax Director to join our Finance team based in our national headquarters in Mississauga. Reporting directly to our Chief Financial Officer you will be responsible for developing a national tax strategy, tax planning, compliance, and tax reporting for the company as well as its related entities. You will also be the point person for representing Dexterra and its entities to tax authorities, third parties, e.g. tax advisors, external auditors as well as intra-group to the business/subgroups and affiliated companies.

Things you are great at:
Facilitating the development and implementation of an overall tax strategy for at an enterprise level
Identifying and leading in the implementation of best practices in the area of corporate and indirect taxes across the organization
Proactive research, evaluation and communication of impact of legislative or operating changes in the charging, collecting and remitting of taxes
Management of the planning and communications of external audits
Implement change in processes based on audit findings to improve controls and reduce the future exposure.
Review of monthly commodity tax returns, and reasonability of tax payments. Ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of returns and payments.
Providing support for business development activities in areas of contract review, due diligence and/or integration.
Promote and enforce the integrity of the policies and practices implemented by ensuring compliance with IFRS and accepted practices of internal control as governed by CSOX.
Prepare and maintain corporate tax exposure assessment for the enterprise
Proactive identification, analysis, presentation of business rationale for tax planning opportunities;
Develop and maintain companywide relationships to ensure cooperation, focus and participation where required.
Participation at the Senior Finance meetings related to tax governance, audit updates, process gaps and legislation changes where necessary;
Lead, coach, and influence by providing clear vision and direction to the organization in order to instill a sense of professionalism and excellence, leverage systems, procedures and controls and reinforce consistent practices, and promote and enforce exceptional customer service and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma
CPA, CA, CGA or CMA, (CPA or CA preferred)
Completion of In-Depth Tax program
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience as a Tax Manager/Senior Manager in a publicly traded company
Experience with corporate tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing in Canada is advantageous
Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax compliance
Proficient in working with ERP and Financial reporting systems as well as with MS Office, specifically Excel, SharePoint and Power BI
Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to read and interpret legislation
Experience with modeling potential impacts of tax transactions and their effects on the effective tax rates
