The Public Relations Assistant will work with 50th Parallel Public Relations’ team and clients at its office based in Courtenay. Clients include small businesses, not for profits, government agencies and First Nations.

A*s Public Relations Assistant your responsibilities will include: *

  • Supporting ongoing projects with clients.
  • Event and workshop support.
  • Copywriting and copyediting.
  • Communications with stakeholders.
  • Drafting marketing materials, communications reports and media monitoring documents.
  • Collaborating with the team and clients to meet the strategic objectives of our company and clients.
  • Ability to be on time and available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in communications and/or marketing or related field.
  • Excellent skills with all social media platforms.
  • Excellent written communication skills with emphasis on proofreading and grammar excellence.
  • Open to collaboration in a team environment.
  • Organized, efficient, reliable and detail-oriented.
  • Works well both independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptable to a fluid work environment.
  • Deadline-driven and responds well under occasional pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Personal transportation is required for time-sensitive company errands.

This is a 6-month, full-time employee contract position with the opportunity for term extension. A dedicated desk and computer are provided at the 50th Parallel Public Relations HQ office at 105-2456 Rosewall Crescent, Courtenay BC V9N 8R9.
