Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario and our goal is to create a transportation network that enhances the prosperity, sustainability and quality of life for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. It leads the planning in the region with its Regional Transportation Plan that guides the work and investments of the organization. It builds light transit, bus rapid transit and Regional Express Rail and operates GO Transit, UP Express and PRESTO.
Reporting to the Manager, Regional Partnerships, the Advisor brings passion for regional transportation, stakeholder engagement and positive collaboration in delivering outcomes that can drive success for Metrolinx key initiatives and corporate priorities.
Conducts research studies to determine the feasibility of applying new and innovative technologies to Metrolinx services
Assists internal collaborators to manage Planning and Policy projects in collaboration with management
Translates and communicates complex technical issues to persuade expert and lay audiences to interpret stakeholder comments into actions
Assists with tendering for studies and services and contracting vendors in accordance with procurement policies and procedures
Develops and delivers briefing, communication, and presentation materials for a wide range of audiences
Serves as a key point of contact with internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and monitor strategies, related projects and initiatives
Coordinates senior stakeholder forums, representing diverse public and private sector interests
Facilitates partnerships with other business units, municipalities, external sponsors/funders to advance new Planning and Policy initiatives with external stakeholders
Assesses policies, internal processes, and external services for alignment with corporate goals
Analyzes Metrolinx business needs and processes to identify new ideas in other agencies, industries or jurisdictions for alignment with The Regional Transportation Plan and the corporation’s mission, vision, goals and values
Plans and directs the work of consultants and external service providers through all project stages and monitors compliance with stakeholder requirements and Metrolinx standards, policies and procedures
Location: 97 Front Street West, Toronto
Completion of a degree in Business Administration, Planning or related field, or an advanced / specialist technical certification, requiring an equivalent number of years of post-secondary education
Minimum six (6) years’ related experience, with a focus on project management or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research and analysis focused on transportation innovation, sustainability and improvements to the traveler experience
Experience developing business cases to support new ideas and foster innovation and sustainability
Negotiation, tact, diplomacy, and political acuity to develop and recommend project plans, manage multi-stakeholder projects/initiatives, and make recommendations
Knowledge of procurement policies and processes to assist with tendering for studies and services, and contract vendors
Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to develop and deliver briefing, communication, and presentation materials for a wide range of audiences
