Reporting to the Senior Director, Specialty Retail and Clinic Operations, the Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy is responsible for the successful operation of multiple pharmacy sites across our Shoppers Drug Mart Specialty Health Network (SDMSHN) to ensure pharmacy services are provided to patients in accordance with established corporate procedures and provincial/federal pharmacy regulations. The Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy will also support multiple centralized functions supporting our pharmacies, clinics and patients nationally. The Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing pharmacy sites to ensure patient centric outcomes, regulatory compliance, change management, fiscal stewardship, staffing and team engagement. This role requires a strong leader with critical thinking skills, ability to problem solve and effectively manage professional relationships with clients/customers as well as internal leadership. The Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy will be responsible for the operations of the SDMSHN pharmacies which includes complex high cost medication billing, specialized therapies, sterile compounding and other pharmacy operational activities. The Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy will be accountable for but not limited to:

What you will do:
Responsible to lead Specialty Pharmacy Managers across multiple SDMSHN pharmacies and Manager, Pharmacy Support
Achievement of plan and forecasted dispensing revenue and profitability
Continuously improve upon KPI’s through continuous improvement
Financial stewardship, billing accuracy, managing third party compliance and audits
Manage operational performance goals and staffing
Build positive team culture, team engagement, maintain open communication with teams and manage succession planning

Responsible for labour and operational cost management to meet pharmacy financial plan
Oversee all SDMSHN pharmacy sites to ensure regulatory compliance
Maintain privacy and confidentiality according to provincial and federal regulations; responsible for reporting and tracking on pharmacy site incidents and privacy breaches in the organization’s software, analyzing trends and initiating corrective and preventative actions
Ensure Required Operating Procedures (ROPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) requirements are incorporated into daily procedures and correctly followed by staff in the execution of all duties
Report all Adverse Events (AE) and Product Technical Complaints (PTC) immediately or as soon as possible upon becoming aware of the event as per current policies and procedures and ensure the same is followed by all staff
Responsible for monitoring and coaching quality assurance relating to pharmacy services
Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement policies and procedures for new products, programs and services
Support SDMSHN program launches, special projects and cross-functional initiatives
Understand relevant pharmacy computer systems to support SDMSHN pharmacies with operational efficiencies
Act as the pharmacy SME for system upgrades and implementations when required
Assist the Senior Director, Specialty Retail and Clinic Operations in the performance of his/her responsibilities and assume additional duties as directed

Strategic role in maximizing operational efficiency and creation of innovative ideas at the SDMSHN specialty pharmacy sites
Plan, develop and execute on pharmacy projects that support core strategic initiatives
Drive continuous improvement and best pharmacy practice changes to all sites
Work with Sr. Medical Equipment Coordinator to prepare annual budget for medical equipment and operating expenses; evaluate patient needs by working with respective program managers
Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors related to pharmacy operations, cleanroom operations and medical equipment coordination
Support contract negotiations with new and existing vendors
Provide strategic plan on pharmacy functions to support SDMSHN programs that aligns with pharmacy best practices; actively participate in client vendor meetings
Participate in business development activities related to SDMSHN programs; help, explore, develop and execute new regional business opportunities

Work closely with Specialty Pharmacy Managers and Pharmacy Support Manager to ensure alignment of business processes and strategy with specialty pharmacy sites
Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement policies and procedures for new products, programs and services
Work closely with Program Managers and other SDMSHN colleagues to ensure that customer expectations are met
Represent pharmacy on all organizational projects including technology focused initiatives
Lead on teamwork, engagement and Blue Culture and CORE Values

What you will need:
Minimum of University undergraduate degree. Preference given to degree in pharmacy or business.
Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in pharmacy, pharma or healthcare
Experience leading diverse teams-minimum three (3) years
Experience with multi-site leadership an asset
Previous sterile (hazardous and non-hazardous) compounding experience an asset
Knowledge of USP 797/USP 800/NAPRA Standards an asset
Experience and/or knowledge of specialty pharmacy or pharmaceutical industry preferred
Experience with Pharmacy software systems or CRM preferred
Proficient in MsOffice applications
Strong interpersonal and leadership qualities

Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to work under stress with short lead times and changing customer needs with short turnaround
