Directly accountable to the Manager of Resident Food Services, the Food Services Supervisor, supervises the operations relating to resident/patient/client meal service; ensures the adequate supply of food to resident/patient/clients; ensures that all Food Service Attendants follow work and cleaning schedules; schedules hours of work for Food Service Attendants; assumes responsibility for total dietary services on weekends and statutory holidays as required; assists in the supply and control of paper and cleaning supplies, stationery supplies and equipment; schedules and oversees on-the-job training of new employees; completes performance appraisals; assists in revising work and cleaning schedules; participates in an on-going Quality Assurance program; performs other duties as required. Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (e.g. utilizing personal, protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies their Manager or their designates (i.e. supervisors) of all occurrences, injuries illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers, or any others who enter the premises.
Experience in a supervisory capacity preferable in food services.
Grade XII or equivalent.
Graduation from a recognized course in Food Service Supervision or equivalent experience.
Completion of Food Handlers Certificate.
Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrates knowledge and support of:

Personal Health Information Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
Knowledge of institutional dietary practices and procedures.
Knowledge of Dietary sanitation procedures - National Sanitation Course preferred.
Knowledge and familiarity of standard dietary terminology.
Knowledge of food services equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to independently supervise established work standards and schedules.
Ability to assign and supervise training programs and evaluate staff performance.
Must have high standards for sanitation and personnel management.
Ability to requisition supplies and maintain records. Ensuring par levels are not exceeded while ensuring adequate supplies.
Ability to effectively interact with Centre staff, residents and guests.
Ability to work under pressure and time restraints.
Must show proven organizational and communication skills, adaptability, initiative, good judgement and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
May be required to work extended hours.
May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, etc.
May encounter aggressive and/or agitated patients/residents/staff/visitors.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
