A career in the Capital Projects & Infrastructure (CP&I) practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) will allow you to work on major infrastructure projects, in sectors such as transportation, energy, health and education. We work on behalf of public authorities or private clients, from the strategic planning and the preparation of the project business case to bid preparation and financial close.
Our practice has an excellent track record, both in Canada (offices in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver) and worldwide, with more than 30 years of experience in providing advanced advisory services to public and private sector infrastructure projects.
As a Manager, you will advise the management of public and private entities on the planning, financing, and procurement of complex infrastructure projects. Your functions will include the financial analysis of infrastructure projects, risk analysis, the preparation of procurement strategies and processes, financial bid evaluation, negotiation of commercial agreements and other advisory services related to capital and infrastructure projects.
What it’s like to work in the PwC Capital Projects & Infrastructure practice
A highly collaborative team of renown and multi-talented professionals (financing specialists, procurement specialists, engineers, accountants, etc.) working on important infrastructure projects across Canada;
Meetings with existing and potential clients to understand their views, needs, and required services as well as to develop our business network;
A key role in projects and transactions, liaising with other external advisers (lawyers, engineers, etc.), lenders and a wide variety of stakeholders;
The analysis of every dimension of a capital or infrastructure project, including its risks and potential delivery methods; and
A long-term assistance to client executives through the various stages of large-scale projects.
Supervise and contribute to drafting reports, presentations and information documents of a financial nature, business cases and analyses related to various procurement methods;
Coordinate the preparation of proposals and participate in business development initiatives;
Oversee the development and review of complex financial models;
Participate in the development of the strategic planning, granting and financial structuring of capital and infrastructure projects;
Develop an in-depth understanding of various infrastructure sectors such as transportation, health or energy;
Be the principal point of contact and liaise between PwC and client’s teams and the client’s other advisors;
Understand and assess client needs to provide them with information essential to making informed decisions;
Advise clients on industry practices in the planning, financing and management of capital and infrastructure projects, and support them in the implementation of these recommendations;
Develop your network of potential clients in the public and private sector as well as in the community of lenders, investors, legal advisors and technical advisors;
As an infrastructure specialist, collaborate with other lines of service within PwC to identify and win assignments; and
Contribute to the development of the CP&I practice and the PwC brand.
An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work.
At least five years of relevant professional experience, in major capital projects and infrastructure;
Complete fluency in French and English, both spoken and written;
Strong communication, presentation and writing skills, including the ability to understand and effectively summarize complex documents;
Proven technical and analytical capabilities including proven financial analysis and financial modelling skills applied to infrastructure projects;
Flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment;
A university degree in a relevant discipline (business, accounting, finance, procurement, law, engineering, political science, etc.);
A professional designation (or an interest in pursuing it) in finance (CFA, CBV) or in project management (PMP) will be considered an asset.
This position does not support the path leading to the Canadian CPA title.
