If you’re a qualified and experienced Sheet Metal Worker who keeps current with changes and improvements to technology, products and installation techniques, and leads by example in providing the best client experience in all job activities and tasks, this full-time position reporting to the Project Manager is for you.

As a Commercial Sheet Metal Supervisor, based out of Guelph, ON, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the installation of duct-work and HVAC units, including electronic and mechanical components for commercial projects. As a representative of the Hy-Mark team, you’ll use safe work practices in handling all items required for the job. Through strong communication and collaboration, you’ll set expectations within the team to drive quality performance through excellence in customer service, and act as the point person for trade or supervisor issues, problems and inquiries.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the profitable growth and development of the Company by executing projects – from start-up to close-out – and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery, with the guidance of the Project Manager/Estimator or Project Coordinator/Estimator. In this leadership role, you’ll be expected to assume direct responsibility for the productive execution of the work, complete all required paperwork, and act as a representative of Hy-Mark to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

This position involves working mainly on construction sites, and involves travel to construction sites, with some projects requiring extended out-of-town stays. As several projects may be active at once, your ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines is critical.

The successful candidate for the role of Commercial Sheet Metal Supervisor will demonstrate:

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driver’s abstract
  • High school diploma, preferred
  • Completion of college vocational or technical training, preferred
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications – Sheet Metal Worker Red Seal Certificate
  • Gas 3 or 2 Ticket
  • Possession of one or more of:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Estimating, Engineering, or a similar program
  • Post-secondary trade-specific diploma, or equivalent experience
  • A trade certification in good standing * At least 5 years of experience supervising at team
  • Demonstrated experience in running an ICI project
  • Basic understanding of e-mail protocol
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, an asset
  • Ability to:
  • Manage direct and indirect reports
  • Work independently without excessive supervision and review projects for accuracy
  • Review the work of others for accuracy
  • Complete tasks within specified time constraints
  • Handle a large volume of confidential information
  • Communicate with all levels of the company, using excellent verbal and written skills
  • Create and maintain good working relationships with all external and internal customers, staff and vendors
  • Execute job duties, using excellent time management skills
  • Prioritize and assess the needs of new incoming projects
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, drawings and specifications for new construction, homes, small-to-midrise commercial projects and ICI projects
  • Work well under pressure
  • Deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times * Highly flexible approach, with solid interpersonal skills, allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to meet and complete tasks according to timelines/deadlines
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
