Kwakiutl Band Council (KBC) is seeking a motivated / experienced and part-time 26 hr/wk (0.75 FTE), Child & Youth Worker (CYW) to work at the Health Centre in Fort Rupert—just outside of Port Hardy, BC.

We are seeking a creative and energetic individual to work collaboratively with youth to create a space that supports a wide range of youth needs and interests. We are looking for someone who is interested in program development, youth leadership and to work with young people to learn, grow and build a spirit of community and strong individuals. Experience working with youth 7 - 18, with an understanding of crisis intervention and safety protocols. You also must possess strong organizational and administrative skill sets.

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services, preference given to Child and Youth Care and Social Work disciplines, along with training and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Kwakiutl community, culture and language is an asset

You will plan and implement a diverse range of programs (health and wellness, recreational, youth development, education and awareness raising, youth trips) for children and youth 7 – 18 years. Applicant must have and maintain a Class 5 Driver’s License and preferably a Class 4. Preference may be given to qualified applicants who are of Aboriginal ancestry. Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services, preference given to Child and Youth Care and Social Work disciplines, along with training and experience.
