Dillon is currently seeking candidates for the position of Health and Safety Manager. Based from any Dillon office, this role will be instrumental in providing operational and strategic leadership in the development of Health and Safety, and Corporate Services Emergency Contingency programs.

The position will also be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and administration of departmental policies, programs, and procedures in relation to Occupational Health Safety (OHS) and Emergency Planning (EP).

This position has direct supervision of staff and provides supervision, leadership, training, and support to ensure that established requirements are met. The position also trains and develops staff, ensures certifications and training requirements are met and works with Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees to ensure each office is functioning effectively and is in compliance with the various legislative requirements across Canada.

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement new documentation and procedures relevant to Health and Safety on a provincial and federal level
Lead the training of new and existing employees on new HSE measures and changes in regulations
Develop and manage internal compliance measure for health and safety
Ensure internal and external health and safety procedures are up to date
Build and maintain relationship with external parties relevant to Occupational Health and Safety such as governing bodies and compensation boards
Commitment to being part of a learning organization, by providing leadership and contributing to the career development of staff, including training, coaching and mentoring
Leadership and continued development and growth of the health and safety team
Contributions to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Business travel upon request

Qualifications:
A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Social Sciences or Health related field
Certification with the Canadian Board of Registered Safety Professionals
Certification in Emergency Planning or Emergency Management will be considered an asset
A minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in the consulting industry

Experience:
In-depth understanding of Health and Safety policies and regulations across Canada
Experience using software programs and applications
Experience leading Health and Safety programs and formal management systems
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, project management and project delivery
Ability to innovate and work with tight timelines
Superior leadership and influencing skills
Excellent verbal, written communication and business writing skills
