Your Role and Responsibilities
Solution Architects in IBM’s Client Engineering team are part of a cross-functional hands-on technical team that delivers a unique client co-creation experience to help client’s understand how innovations in cloud and technology can help accelerate their business requirements. As part of an entrepreneurial team, you will have a critical role in co-creating with clients across a variety of business and technology projects to deliver Minimum Viable Products to show how IBM’s Cloud, Data and AI technologies and Services integrate to address and address the client’s business and innovation needs. You will lead all aspects of the integrated technical solution, from identification of requirements to technical decisions impacting the business outcome. You will collaborate with members of the client team and IBM team to define and execute proofs of concept and Minimum Viable Solutions. You will combine an ability to think strategically about business and technical challenges along with contemporary Cloud, AI and Analytics skills to connect the technology with value and outcomes needed to address the client’s priorities.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
Be the overall technical lead and single point of contact for client-facing IBM Client Engineering engagements and be able to connect a client’s business challenges to a broad range of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud Foundry, Container Security, Red Hat technologies (OpenShift, Ansible, RHEL, etc.), and related IBM cloud, data/AI products and services
Own the solutions architecture plan while being a “hands-on” builder in a client-facing engagement
Ensure that the solution architecture includes sufficient provisions for security and reliability, while covering customer pain points and anticipated future needs
Perform engagement lead duties to ensure streamlined communications as well as ownership of tasks across the client’s and IT technical team for one or more IBM Client Engineering engagements
Champion an entrepreneurial mindset and deliver unique value by leveraging industry and technology expertise to drive innovative strategies to accelerate clients’ success
Continuously expand essential business, industry, technology, and competitive knowledge
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 5+ years of experience leading customer-facing technical solutions teams in architecting, building and delivering complex application modernization and cloud native, hybrid, and multi-cloud solutions (e.g, AWS, Azure, GCP or IBM Cloud)
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing enterprise container solutions using container engines such a as Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud Foundry, Red Hat technologies (OpenShift, Ansible, RHEL, etc.)
At least 5 years of client facing advisory or consultancy experience in technical projects and services with strong ability to articulate complex application and solution architecture discussions and to connect them to the client’s business challenges and context
Proven experience with modern application development techniques and best practices such as agile methodologies, API and microservice architectures, and cloud-native application patterns
Strong organizational, planning and team collaboration skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience with mainframe migrations and modernizations
8-10 years as a Solution Architect or an IT/multi-cloud consultant
Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
